Ukraine is a large market providing expanding businesses with strategic positioning in the heart of Europe. However, starting a business or expanding operations into the country is an administrative challenge. Despite the opportunities that await successful businesses, having local help is crucial to guide you through the cultural, political and administrative landscape.

Starting a business in Ukraine is an arduous process, involving seven procedures and 22 days. Unlike legislation in other countries, Ukrainian law does not allow investors to set up a partnership in the country or convert a representative office into a company. This  means a limited liability company is the most widely used method for foreign investors to start a business in Ukraine.

Ukraine is taking steps to improve the country’s image abroad and offer more protection to investors and the government is adopting proactive information strategies, improving the legal environment and working with existing foreign investors consistently. After the war it is expected that the government will adopt new laws that will improve the transparency and efficiency of doing business in Ukraine. The NUCC organizes workshops and knowledge session in which the legal and cultural ways of doing business are explain. The NUCC will also actively organize network events and trade mission to connect Dutch and Ukrainian companies.
